On Sunday 8th April the club hosted teams from several neighbouring clubs to participate in our longstanding invitational tournament, which was recently renamed the Rob Fairweather Invitational Fours. Once more the club excelled in its organization thanks to the efforts of numerous volunteers who ensured that the day ran smoothly. After 24 ends of highly competitive bowling the winning team turned out to be one of our own – congratulations to Sue, Norman, Bede and Wayne on their fine win.

Princes Park Shield Retained
On Saturday the popular annual fixture against fellow ‘parkers’, Princes Park, was held at Albert Park Bowls Club. The number of Albert Park participants exceeded those from Princes Park so both of our coaches and several top players were loaned to the opposition to even up the numbers. In all, nine rinks were filled with triples and fours competing over two sessions. Despite relinquishing key players the home side was able to prevail, winning 10 of 18 rinks. So the shield remains at Albert Park and we look forward to defending it at Princes Park next year.
Albert Park Travel Day
This Sunday sees the second of this season’s big prize money bowling events. The Albert Park Travel Day is a triples competition open to all members with approximately $500 in total prize money on offer. As near as possible equal ability triples will be formed from the participants by the Match Committee. The competition will be split into three sessions of 8 ends with a break for tea. If you are interested please sign up before the day using the sheet on the club noticeboard.
